“The idea of likeminded people working together to promote philanthropy appeals to me and my husband, Jim, who grew up in Holliston.  It’s smart, informed and engaging: You get feedback and learn about good causes.  We’ve come to know the needs of the community with a perspective that goes beyond our particular interests.”

“Mental health is the focus of our donor advised fund.  One of our children suffers from serious mental illness, an area that is not as highly funded as others.  And we’ve replaced a private family foundation with a memorial fund, which saves us a lot of headaches and expenses.  It is much simpler.  We don’t have to manage funds, and they are pooled so they earn more.  We don’t pay accounting fees.  The nuts and bolts of administration are not our concern.

“Our good fortune had its start in this area and giving back is very important to us.  By giving locally, we benefit the people who have helped us over the years.  While supporting the causes we believe in, we also help Crossroads build a foundation that serves the whole community.  As donors, we gain a double reward.”
